Per a Merit Promotions Board Decision on November 2nd, http://www.mspb.gov/netsearch/viewdocs.aspx?docnumber=547704&version=549286&application=ACROBAT it appears the the Federal Career Intern Program, which allowed students and others to apply for trainee excepted service jobs without regard to Veteran’s status, may not survive. This is a program which I helped many students and others apply for federal jobs through over the years – and was a backdoor to get into the federal government if you did not have the exact experience for a given federal job (which is exactly the case for many students).
Since this program no longer exists, I wonder how the government will now handle hiring trainees or others they need to fill new positions.
