Federal Career Intern Program – Will it Survive?

Per a Merit Promotions Board Decision on November 2nd, http://www.mspb.gov/netsearch/viewdocs.aspx?docnumber=547704&version=549286&application=ACROBAT┬áit appears the the Federal Career Intern Program, which allowed students and others to apply for trainee excepted service jobs without regard to Veteran’s status, may not survive. This is a program which I helped many students and others apply for federal jobs through over the years – and was a backdoor to get into the federal government if you did not have the exact experience for a given federal job (which is exactly the case for many students).

Since this program no longer exists, I wonder how the government will now handle hiring trainees or others they need to fill new positions.
